‘The Equalizer’: l’addio dopo cinque stagioni

Apparentemente The Equalizer avrebbe dovuto vantare una sesta e ultima stagione finale, di tredici episodi. Si era prevista una notevole ed importante riduzione del budget per la serie tv, dalla stessa CBS e da Queen Latifah (Robyn McCall) e il suo team. Nonostante gli sforzi, la cancellazione si è presentata come l’opzione più plausibile. Il non-rinnovo è stato un duro colpo per i fans, che speravano in un finale più dignitoso. In un commovente post su Instagram, l’attrice scrive:

Stepping into a kick-ass role like Robyn was everything I hoped it would be. Shakim and I at Flavor Unit are always excited to bring these kinds of roles and projects to life—and then we just hope you love them as much as we do. The Equalizer blew past every dream we had for it, and having the opportunity to do this for five seasons honestly feels surreal.

Thank you to our amazing cast, crew, and producers and writers! And I can’t say enough about the FANS!Y’all have been so loyal, so loud, and so ride-or-die—and that’s exactly why we keep doing this. We can’t thank you enough. It means the world to us.

And don’t worry—I’ll be back kicking ass in something new real soon. Can’t wait to share it with you.

The Equalizer nasce come un reboot della serie tv degli anni Ottanta, Un giustiziere a New York, inizia con il tempo a vantare successo, fino all’includere nomi importanti come Titus Welliver (leggi anche ‘The Equalizer’: l’arrivo dell’attore Titus Welliwer nella quinta stagione). L’ultima stagione è stata scritta in modo da risultare conclusiva, in qualche modo, ma resta comunque una grande delusione la sua cancellazione.
